In industrial settings, the transmitter and receiver of safety light curtains may sometimes shift their positions due to external forces such as collisions or equipment vibrations, causing the light axis to fail to align properly. As a result, false alarms or protection failure may occur. In such cases, there is no need to rush to disassemble and reassemble. Instead, you can try the following methods to quickly restore the alignment of the light. 

1. Visual rough adjustment

First, check if the installation brackets of the transmitter and receiver have any obvious deformation. If the brackets are skewed, they should be corrected or replaced. Then, observe whether the surfaces of both are roughly parallel and if their heights are consistent. By loosening the fixing screws, make fine adjustments to the angle and horizontal position to ensure that both are basically aligned. 

II. Using the optical axis alignment indicator light (most commonly used)

Most safety grilles have an alignment indicator light (usually an LED) on the top or side of the receiver. When aligning the light: 

After the transmitter is powered on, observe the status of the indicator light on the receiver. 

When the optical axis is perfectly aligned, the indicator light is always on (usually green) or off (depending on the product specifications). 

If the optical axis is misaligned, the indicator light will flash or display red. 

Slowly adjust the horizontal and vertical angles of the receiver until the indicator light shows the optimal alignment state, and then tighten the screws. 

III. Laser Alignment Device (Auxiliary Tool)

For gratings that are installed at a long distance or in a bright environment, a laser alignment device can be used. This is an accessory that can be temporarily installed in front of the lens of the transmitter or receiver, and it can project a visible laser beam to indicate the direction of the optical axis. 

Fix the laser alignment device at the front end of the transmitter. 

Adjust the angle of the transmitter so that the laser beam shines directly onto the center of the receiver. 

Remove the laser aligner, and then make a fine adjustment to the receiver so that the alignment indicator light shows normally. 

Some high-end safety grilles have already been equipped with laser-assisted light detection function. 

IV. Mobile Phone Camera Assisted Method (No Additional Tools Required)

The mobile phone camera can "see" infrared light. The safety barrier emits infrared light that is invisible to the human eye, but the mobile phone camera (especially the front camera without an infrared filter) can capture the infrared light spots. 

Open the camera application on your mobile phone; 

Place the camera close to the receiver's lens position and observe the screen. 

Adjust the angle of the emitter so that the brightest and most concentrated infrared spot appears on the screen. 

At the same time, observe the alignment indicator light of the grating. The combination of the two can quickly help you find the optimal position. 

This method is simple and effective, and is particularly suitable for situations where there are no dedicated tools available on site. 

V. Verification after Receiving Light

After completing the reception of light, a functional test must be conducted: 

Use standard test rods (with diameters selected according to the resolution of the grating) to block each beam of light, and confirm that the grating can normally output the blocking signal. 

Check whether the indicator light status is stable and without flickering; 

Run continuously for a period of time and confirm that there are no erroneous alarms. 

preventive measure

To avoid frequent exposure to light, mechanical guardrails or anti-collision supports can be installed around the grating to reduce the risk of being hit. Regularly check if the installation screws are loose.
